I was raised in Charles County and currently reside in Hughesville. I attended public school, graduating from La Plata High School in 1988. I served as captain of the varsity field hockey team for several years and was elected to several other leadership positions in high school, including Junior Class President and Student Representative to the Board of Education. I began my career at the Census Bureau in Suitland while attending school full-time in the evenings at CSM. After several years, I transferred to UMUC and worked full-time while completing a B.S. in Management Development. My career has spanned 25 years as Director of Human Resources for a large law firm in D.C. and currently at a consulting engineering firm. These positions require strong commitment along with good organization, communication, and leadership skills. In addition, I hold several senior professional certifications in Human Resources.
I have attended Grace Lutheran Church and School in La Plata since I was young and have served in various volunteer roles, including leading the Vacation Bible School program, as well as my current role on the Board of Directors. Other community involvement included roles as a Girl Scout Troop Leader and Leader of our Girl Scout Service Unit. My professional positions have given me the opportunity to develop networking groups for women and assist many community organizations over the years.
After my disappointment in the outcome of the last presidential election, I decided it was time to get involved in areas I believe need to change. I have been disappointed at the lack of elected republican leaders in the county and will work to help elect the right officials. I am looking forward to helping educate others on the beliefs of the republican party and gaining a better understanding of how the political system works in the county and state where I live.
